Grove Tours – frequently Asked question
CAN I BUY OILS AT THE OLIVE GROVE?
Generally no, but…
Our olive grove is our farm and out there is just nature, our shop is in the centre of Vodnjan. For morning walking tours most guests come back to the shop afterwards for an added full tasting and education.
For the evening tours we recommend that you visit us at our shop during our working hours so you can have both the shop tasting and olive grove tours experience.
If however you are travelling a long distance to visit us on an evening tour, and you have no chance to visit the shop during our regular hours, you can pre-order oils for collection and payment on the grove. Go to our webshop to see what we have and then email us before 11:00 on the day of the tour. We will pack your oils and you can pay by debit/credit card on the tour.
CAN I BRING MY DOG?
Yes indeed you can, dogs love the grove with all its scents of wildlife. We please ask that the dog is kept on its leash as sometimes we have guests who might have a fear of dogs.
DO I NEED A CAR TO VISIT THE OLIVE GROVE?
Generally yes. What is key is that you can move to and from the tour meeting point, tour location and back independently.
The reason we have a tour meeting point which is at a different location is so that all guests can find us easily. From there everybody drives their own car to the grove which is out in nature.
You do have the option of coming to us with a taxi/uber, however please be sure that the transport stays with you at the meeting point to bring you to the grove and in this way you can use the same driver to take you home from the tour location as they will have already been there. What is important with visiting us using a taxi/uber is that you are independently able to transport yourselves. Also we ask that you ensure that your transport is on time to the meeting point.
A second option, if you are here in Istria without a car, is that you look at the possibility of hiring a car for a day or two and also use the opportunity to explore more of Istria.

I AM A VEGETARIAN/VEGAN, IS THERE FOOD FOR ME?
More and more of our guests do not consume meat or dairy any we are happy to support their nutritional choices. Food on our evening tours are primairly plant based bt also include local cheeses and cure meats. Should you wish not to have meat or dairy please let us know in the notes when you book.
I HAVE SOME FOOD ALERGIES, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
We have many guests over the years that are coeliac, or have other food intolerances. Please let us know in the “notes” section in the booking and we will do our best to facilitate. Our meals are seasonal and ingrediants change, therefore please also doube check on the evening of the tour that your meal is as per your needs.
I AM PREGNANT, CAN I EAT EVERYTHING?
Generally yes you can, all our food is locally sourced and from reputible producers. In our generally offer there is not any food that might be a risk to your pregnancy, however please put this info in “notes” when booking and double check with us on the evening.
MY PARENTS ARE ELDERLY AND HAVE DIFFICULTY WALKING, IS THIS TOUR OK FOR THEM?
This is hard for us to say as we don’t know how much difficulty they have. What we can say is that the length of the walk is approximately 1,5km, which we do over 1 hour. However this is usually part standing and part walking at a easy but reasonably speed. Also the terrain can be rough as this is a farm. We do our best to adapt to the abilities of our guests, however we don’t generally recmmend the tour for those who have mobility issues.
IS THE TOUR WHEELCHAIR ACCESSABLE?
As much as our shop and villa are wheelchair suitable, generally the terrain on the farm tour is not. Brist has a long history of supporting special needs NGOs, however the terrain on the tour makes this very difficult. Feel free to reach out to discuss your specific needs.
WHAT IF WE HAVE BAD WEATHER?
Our tours are out in open, and that is what makes them very special. If we beieve from our experince that the tour will be affected by rain to such an extent that the experience will not be of the highest quality we will cancel the tour and make every effort to offer you and alternative date/time.
IS THIS TOUR GOOD FOR TEENAGERS / KIDS / TODDLERS / BABIES?
Quite honestly, on all fronts – Yes. We have had guests from just a few weeks old to their 90’s. We are a family with all these age ranges and we are happy to have all with us. We also have a lot of experience with kids – our own and working with kids so we are really very adaptable and inclusive – we want the kids to have a great time also, so we engage them in the tour very much.
